I'm Kimberly Rubin-Spivack. I gave birth to my first child at age 53. This is my story.
I promise I will get back to my labor story – you really don’t want to miss that…exciting is an understatement!
However for now, I am happy to take a weekend away with my husband who has been on this amazing journey with me. I feel that our partners are so often unappreciated when it comes to pregnancy, birth and postpartum. Just last night I attended an event hosted by the brilliant Lori Bregman who I was fortunate enough to have as my Doula. She wrote the most wonderful book called “The Mindful Mom To Be.” As pregnant and new mothers we discussed how important it is to take care of ourselves and to appreciate those who have helped us through this life changing experience. My husband Nova has been such an integral piece of navigating the journey of new parenthood and he has been my rock.
So as his birthday present I wanted to give back to him. To make him feel pampered and relaxed without a care in the world just as he has done for me so many times over the past year and a half! So away we go to the healing waters of warm mineral springs and reconnection.
I know it will be hard leaving Sky – I am already feeling anxious. I know I will be face timing her at least 2x a day! She will be very well taken care of. One thing I have learned is that self care is an essential component of being a good mother. I am slowly learning that “what’s good for Mommy is good for baby”.
